The association

Creation and genesis

The association « Les Amis de Pauline Jaricot » («The friends of Pauline Jaricot») is a catholic association born in the diocese of Lyon in April 2010, arisen from the will of a group of friends of the house of Lorette, under Monseigneur Thierry Brac de la Perrière’s presidency, Bishop Auxiliary of Lyon.

In May, 2005, the «Œuvres Pontificales Missionnaires» (Papal Missionary Works) restored the house of Lorette, in which Pauline Jaricot lived on numerous years, and died in 1862; this house has become a place of memory, prayer, and mission.

In 2007, some volunteers, faithful to the house of Lorette, met with the desire to form a small think tank to make known Pauline Jaricot. This beautiful figure of Lyon is still underestimated in France and in Lyon today. She worked at the beginning of the XIXth century, at the conclusion of the French revolution, at a renewal of the evangelization by her innovative actions in favor of the missions in the world, of a bigger social justice for the workers, and of the development of a universal and brotherly prayer.

Pauline Jaricot was declared Respectable by the Pope Jean XXIII in 1962. The file for her beatification is staying in expectation in Rome.
A more intense movement of prayer and a deepening of the knowledge of its spirituality through its works are necessary, in the aim of her beatification.

Pauline Jaricot, a laywoman, is a prophetic figure for the world and the stakes in the new evangelization today.
